Brief

To replace an old conservatory with a new rear extension, internal alterations to form kitchen dining and connect to the rear living room.

Project

The huge sliding glass doors and picture window connect the new dining area with the garden and flood the space with light while maintaing privacy. The space is lit by a large flat glass roof-light in the day, while at night a roof blind and perimeter uplighters create a warm and relaxing space to eat and entertain in. A band of frameless roof glazing at the roof level floods the inner kitchen with natural daylight and physically separates the modern extension from the main house. A small overlap with the living room links the two spaces while maintaining their separateness.
