BLACKSTOCK ROAD HIGHBURY LONDON
NEW BUILD 12 LIVE/WORK UNITS 18 TWO BED FLATS AND 5 PENTHOUSES
The Brief
We were asked by a leading contractor to provide construction drawings and Building Regulations as part of a Design & Build package for a private developer.
The Project
A site is on a busy high street very close to the old site of the Arsenal football ground in Highbury North London.
The building is roughly rectangular in plan with live/work units on the ground and basement floors, eighteen two bed flats and five penthouses on the upper four storeys. The flats all have balconys to the street elevation and the penthouses have their own open terraces. The entrance on the high street leads to the access stair and lift at the rear of the building.
The building was constructed in a reinforced concrete frame, and is brick clad above the ground floor. The penthouse is finished in zinc panelling. The balcony pods are finished in aluminium frame with toughtened glass and stainless steel hand rails. The street level contains a number of shop fronts which are finished in powder coated aluminium and zinc infill panels.
CAMBRIDGE ROAD SAWBRIDGEWORTH
NEW BUILD 10 BED HOUSING ASSOCIATION FLATS
The Brief
Our Clients obtained a site in Sawbridgeworth and our brief was to maximise the use of the site to provide Housing Association accommodation.
The Project
A site, which was previously occupied by a large detached house, was cleared and a scheme agreed with Hertfordshire planners. The site was split into two blocks as the site was very deep. A two storey block containing 4 flats was constructed at the rear of the site and a 6 bed block constructed at the front facing onto Cambridge Road. Off street parking and garden areas are located between the two blocks with additional parking adjacent to the front block.
The building was constructed in traditional brick and block with half rendered upper floors and accommodation in a mansard roof space.
The project was built at a very low cost and finished on time within an agreed tight timescale.
